Sorry haven't posted anything for quite awhile, but I just haven't been on tribe... in awhile.

Anyway, the latest on our man "Fast Freddie" Rodriguez (with Tyler Hamilton!), is that he's signed with the "up-start" domestic team, Rock Racing.
The three-time U.S. champion has piled up a armload of seconds and thirds as well as gotten caught up in his fair share of pile ups this season, including one that sent him tumbling out of the Tour de France.

10:30 In Studio
Freddie Rodriguez, AKA Fast Freddie, Cyclist, just back from the Tour de France, on Fast Freddie Turbo Blend Coffee available online and at your local retailer

www.fredrodriguez.com

www.letour.fr

It is no secret that San Francisco, my home town, is one of the coffee corners of the world. It is known for importing the highest quality beans found anywhere, and has become a center for attracting some of the most experienced coffee roasters in the business. In fact, the Bay Area is the founding location of the coveted "dark roasted" coffee. And, needless to say, the people here love their coffee. And so since moving here over 10 years ago, I've become, well, let's be frank, a coffee freak (or, as my wife calls me, a coffee snob).

The idea for Fast Freddie Coffee came to me about 4 years ago when I met a local roaster who gave me the opportunity to learn "hands on" everything one wants to know about coffee - from choosing the beans, creating the blends, and learning how to "taste" coffee, to mastering the fine art of deep roasting. It has been a dream of mine for some time to create my own coffee blend. At first, it was something I thought I'd do just for fun - a hobby, if you will. But as is with my personality, my hobbies become my passions, and my passions become my livelihood. So here I am today with Fast Freddie Coffee.

The Fast Freddie Coffee niche is no big surprise - the cycling industry. The vision behind the coffee is to offer cyclists and other endurance athletes what we want, love, and need mostða good cup of coffee to get us going. When I first joined the pro ranks, and especially after moving to Europe, I was amazed to see that I was not alone in my love of "the bean". It didn't matter the location of the race or the nationality of the rider, it seemed that everywhere we went all the cyclists had to have their coffee before hitting the road. And perhaps it's because of all the talk we've heard and studies we've read that links coffee consumption with improved endurance and accelerated fat burning that has created this great following. Personally, I had never even thought of these benefits to drinking coffee during my cycling career. I drank it because I loved it. And so, it was during these early years riding in the European peleton that I began to think about out how I could marry both my passion for cycling and my passion for coffee into a unique opportunity. And I believe that is what we have done today with Fast Freddie Coffee.

In my experience, serious athletes are always looking to the best in the way of clothing, equipment, and personal management to help them gain that something more, that edge. I have also found that when it comes to their coffee, invariably it is the same philosophy. So, in meeting the high expectations of my fellow athletes, my roaster and I worked painstakingly to come up with my signature "Turbo Blend" to create what we believe is the best cup of coffee.

Fast Freddie Coffee is quickly on its way to landing in your local bike shop. We are working feverishly to distribute individually packaged 12 oz. bags of coffee to hundreds of retail bike centers throughout the country. Our high-end Fast Freddie Coffee will soon be sitting next to your favorite high-end bike components.

He was O.K. but had to get a bike change from the Mavic neutral support and was not able to get himself back into posistion. Too bad.

Although it did turn out to be a fairly exciting race.

Freddie visits the Link, part two, The coffee.

This Monday evening Fred Roddriguez unveiled his new coffee, Fast Freddie's "Turbo Blend" at the Missing Link Bicycle Cooperative.

This special event was put together by Wrench Science's Marco Sainz, and the Missing Link's Jon Suzuki. Between 6:00 and 7:30 PM, Fred signed various jerseys, hats, t-shirts and a couple dozen waterbottles and flyers. During all this, guest were treated to a tasting of fred's new coffee. It was REALLY good!

Many guest (and staff) were seen going back for second's, and third's. And as you might guess, Freddie doesn't drink decaf! Neeedless to say, people were rather 'animated'.

Fast Freddie's "Turbo Blend" will be available on his website, as well as at the Missing Link Bicycle Cooperative. Deatils on how you can get some coming soon.

http://www.fredrodriguez.com/, http://www.missinglink.org/, http://www.wrenchscience.com/WS1/default.asp

Thanks for all the support and help from the Missing Link staff, and a special thanks to Fred's wife Annie and her brother Joel.

See pics soon!

i met fred today and have to say, he seems like a great guy -- not just a great cyclist, but a really good guy. he shook my hand, looked me in the eye and smiled, and it all seemed genuine. yay for great cyclists that are also nice people!!
